What is COC certification?
COC (Certificate of Conformity) product conformity certificate. In order to ensure the quality of imported products, prevent unsafe and inferior products from entering the country and endanger national health and safety, and take environmental protection into account, some countries require exporters/importers to entrust a third-party inspection and certification agency to test and inspect the products before shipment. For goods, products that meet the standards of the importing country are issued with a product conformity certificate (ie COC certificate), and the goods can be successfully cleared in the importing country, otherwise they will not be imported. If the COC certificate is not provided as required, the goods will face high fines at the port of destination.
Many countries in the world have implemented and formulated compulsory regulations for imported goods. The certificates issued by them are slightly different in terms of name, but in fact they are much the same. All of them can be understood as COC certificates. Such as Nigeria (called SONCAP Certificate, namely SC), Kenya (COC), Tanzania (COC), Botswana (COC), Egypt (called Certificate of Inspection), Côte d’Ivoire (COC), Ghana (COC), Ethiopia (COC), Saudi Arabia Arabia (COC), Algeria (COC), Kuwait (TER; TIR), Uganda (COC), Russia (GOST-R), Qatar (COC), Bangladesh (COC), Iran (COC), etc.
The first step is to provide information to the inspection and certification body (such as CCIC) for review and make an appointment for inspection.
The specific information that needs to be provided is related to which country is exported. Different countries will have some differences, but in general they are similar. For example: export to Nigeria: power of attorney (the agency provides a template for the customer to fill in), packing list, invoice, test report (what standard is acceptable for the specific test report, and how to determine the validity period of the report with the agency), FORM M; Export to Kenya: power of attorney (the agency provides a template for the customer to fill in), packing list, invoice, test report (what standard is acceptable for the specific test report, and how to determine the validity period of the report with the agency) , IDF.
The second step is to pass the review and arrange inspection/installation supervision.
After the production and packaging of this batch of goods is completed, the inspector can go to inspect the goods. During this process, the inspector will inspect the product packaging, randomly open a few boxes to view the products inside, etc., take pictures and keep the bottom, and send The inspection report is returned to the company for review.
The third step is to issue a COC certificate.
After the inspection is completed, if there are rectification opinions, the exporter must carry out rectification before shipment. If there is no rectification opinion, a draft certificate will be issued to the exporter for verification, and the original will be issued after the error is correct, and the exporter will send the original to the consignee at the port of destination. Used for customs clearance.
